Boom Boom Pow

The other day a friend commented to me that I "had another climber" while observing Taran scale yet another couch/chair/toilet/box/bench/etc. Odin could climb before he could walk which caused us to become accustomed to this behavior but I think with Taran, it might actually be even more nerve-wracking. I guess we'll never know how much is his true adventurous temperament and how much is learned behavior from watching his older brother, Odin.

On that note. . . this morning we were playing in the boys' room when Taran decided to move a toy truck over to Odin's bed to help him climb up. See where this is going? The truck slipped out from under his feet and his head hit the wooden bed frame. It honestly happened in a split second. I scooped him up quickly and the blood was already dripping down his face from a cut above his eye. Odin kept asking, "What is that? What is on his head?" because the blood was so dark. As soon as I realized it was a pretty deep cut, I called the boys' pediatrician who recommended we take him into Urgent Care and get stitches. Did I mention we'd been having intense lightening, thunder, and torrential down pouring rain all morning? The saddest/sweetest part? Odin repeating over and over, "Tomorrow will be a better day for Taran."

After a quick-ish trip to the Group Health Emergency Department in Bellevue, during which our little guy's laceration was glued shut, we were sent on our way with stickers and lots of smiles from the wonderful nurses and doctor. I am thankful our first (and I am 100% sure not our last!) trip to get someone glued back together was a family affair and everyone ended up fine and dandy in the end.

Just another exciting day in the Eriksen household!

  1. Oh poor boy! And poor mama - that's stressful. But at least you got a picture that highlights those cheeks...
