Independence day is Odin's favorite holiday. He loves the candy (why else go to a parade?) he loves Red, White, and Blue, and he loves staying up late! His excitement over the holiday has made us embrace it even more. Our family 4th of July traditions include the boys decorating their modes of transportation, attending the Normandy Park parade, walking 2 miles down to the cove celebration to eat and play, heading home for a few hours of rest (a truly necessary part of the adventurous day!), then heading over to the Rackls' house for a BBQ, an epic slip-and-slide, goldfish races (Trav was the champion!) and an amazing fireworks show. Both boys stayed up this year to watch the impressive fireworks display the residents around Lake Burien pay for (and we get to enjoy the perfect view from the Rackl's top deck for free) and afterwards we scooped up our tired (and still wired!) kiddos and took them home to tuck them into bed. Waaaaaaay past their normal bedtime. And maybe even past mine too.
