Surprise!

Odin recently told me that he'd like to have a surprise party when he turns 5 (not for another 6 months). After explaining to him that while his idea sounded fun, it's quite hard to throw a surprise party for someone that asks for one. He assured me he would, "act surprised." Since Odin's half birthday was February 22, I decided that would be the perfect day to throw him a mini surprise birthday party that may actually be surprising for him!
He had a funny smile when he realized the surprise. . .

We had the three grandparents and a good friend that was coincidentally visiting from Oregon join us for dinner on Friday night. While Grandpa Karl slyly kept the boys busy in their bedroom, we quickly hung up a few decorations.

Our 4 1/2 year old was surprised when he came out for dinner and loved the (half) birthday cake for dessert.
Check out the awesome Half-Birthday cake Grandma Gail made.

I know this picture is straight-up bonkers but I love it!
