Just the Two of Us

Trav's beloved Grandpa Bill passed away this week so he and Odin drove to California to be with family for the service. While I'm missing them and very sad about the situation (reading the obituary online last night made me cry for longer than I'm willing to admit), I'm trying to focus on the positive and be thankful for some great one-on-one time with my youngest son. Second children-hmmmm what's to say. Well, I am one (a second child) and I turned out okay, right? That said, I often feel like Taran doesn't get as much individual time with me or Travis as we'd like but with two children it is hard. The past few days Taran and I have been on our own and we're getting a lot of quality time together. We've Christmas shopped, attended Urban Craft Uprising with our good friend Heather, Taran's Aunt Joni and sweet new cousin Kyan, and played together at home. I know Taran is enjoying his time with me as well, seeing as he's been taking extra short naps and waking at least twice a night just to see me. I must be really awesome.
Segue way into a Taran update (not smooth at all but I'm tired so just go with it)-Taran is all over the place, crawling like a madman, creeping along the furniture, and even standing on his own for a few seconds without holding on to anything. He's a loud guy, our Pterodactyl baby, shouting when his food isn't being delivered fast enough or when his brother grabs (yet another) toy out of his hands. On Thanksgiving his Aunt Sarah said it was shocking to hear such a tiny baby reply, "Yeah" when she asked if he wanted to eat.
I want to remember the way his face lights up when his big brother walks in a room. I want to remember how he reaches his little arms up for me to pick him up when he's on the floor. I want to remember how he waves at everyone in line at the post office, for 15 minutes straight. I want to remember how warm and sweet he feels when he falls asleep in my arms. I want to remember how brave and adventurous he is, climbing on top of our neighbor's toy piano and onto their couch. I want to remember how exhausting it is to give him a bath, watching him use one hand to crawl rambunctiously from one end of the tub to the other while using his other hand to splash the water as hard as he can. I want to remember the smile he gives me when I walk in the door after a long day at work.  I love this little guy so much it's ridiculous.

(Imagine an adorable photo of Taran Ronald here-coming as soon as our laptop is back from getting some work done at the Apple store!)
